DETAILS:

Stantec Architecture's Chicago studio occupies the 14th floor of the historic Railway Exchange Building, once home to the renowned Daniel H. Burnham & Co., the original architects and developers of this iconic Chicago landmark. Today, Stantec is one of the world's leading design and consulting firms, with more than 34,000 professionals delivering architecture, engineering, environmental, and advisory services across six continents. For the 14th consecutive year, Stantec has been ranked #1 in Building Design + Construction's 2026 Giants 400 Report of Architecture and Engineering Firms.   The Chicago studio is home to a multidisciplinary team specializing in architecture, interior design, engineering, landscape architecture, urban design, and master planning. The office's portfolio includes some of the region's most recognizable projects, including Roosevelt University's Wabash Tower, Wrigley Field renovations, Hotel Zachary, 400 Lake Shore Drive Tower, Walgreens at the Old Post Office, 900 West Randolph, and Pullman Artspace Lofts. Beyond Chicago, the studio has contributed to transformative projects across North America, including the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles, which will celebrate its long-anticipated opening on September 22nd after more than a decade of planning, design, and construction. The studio wraps around the Railway Exchange Building's stunning central atrium, where terra-cotta detailing and white glazed brick create a bright, inspiring environment filled with natural light. Expansive windows offer sweeping views of Millennium Park, Lake Michigan, and the vibrant Loop streetscape along Wabash Avenue.

VISITOR EXPERIENCE:

Visitors are invited to explore Stantec's 14th-floor studio through a self-guided experience showcasing the firm's design culture, project work, and collaborative workspace. Volunteers stationed throughout the office will be available to answer questions, share insights about Stantec's projects and practice areas, and provide background on the history of both the studio and the Railway Exchange Building.
