DETAILS:

Originally opened in 2017 as Fifth Third Arena, the Chicago Blackhawks practice facility was built with a dual mission: serve as the team’s official training home while remaining accessible to youth, amateur and community hockey programs across Chicago. The building quickly became one of the most heavily utilized ice facilities in the region, with demand for ice time, events and public programming quickly outpacing original capacity. An expanded facility--reintroduced as Blackhawks Ice Center presented by Fifth Third Bank--opened to the public in March 2026, nearly doubling the size of the original complex to more than 250,000 square feet. Two additional ice sheets were added, bringing the facility to four total rinks and significantly increasing its capacity for practices, tournaments, public skating and special events. Beyond ice surfaces, the expansion was intentionally designed to create spaces that invite the community to engage with hockey in new ways.

VISITOR EXPERIENCE:

The Ice Center will be open for self-guided tours.
