Lillstreet Art Center

Lillstreet Art Center is an art school, art gallery, and artist studio space in Chicago, located in Ravenswood’s lively “Malt Row” district. The Center offers classes and workshops in ceramics, metalsmithing and jewelry, textiles, printmaking and book arts, and drawing and painting. Their Kidstreet program includes multimedia classes and summer camps for children and families. Founded by Bruce Robbins in 1975, Lillstreet began as a clay manufacturing company on Halsted and Grand under the name Robbins Clay. The business then moved to a former horse stable at 1021 W. Lill in Lincoln Park, expanding their offerings to include a small variety of ceramics classes and workshops. This programming eventually outgrew the space, and in 2003, Lillstreet relocated to its present home in a former gear factory on Ravenswood Ave. Lillstreet transformed the 40,000 square foot building into a thriving art center serving over 2,000 students, plus studio space for artists working in a wide variety of mediums, a gallery, and an art store.
